What Is Cupping Therapy?

Lift, Loosen and Let Go

Cupping is a traditional healing therapy used for centuries in China, India and the Middle East. Special cups are placed on the skin and a gentle suction is created inside them. This suction lifts the skin and the layers of muscle below it, instead of pressing them down like a massage does.

This lifting action opens up tight tissues, draws fresh blood to the area and helps release built-up tension. Many people describe it as a deep stretch from the inside. It is especially helpful for back, neck and shoulder stiffness that does not go away with rest.

  • No medicines, no injections
  • Relaxing and comfortable
  • Great for muscle stiffness
  • Can be combined with acupressure
How It Works

What Does the Suction Actually Do?

A simple pull on the skin starts several helpful changes inside the body.

Boosts Circulation

Suction draws fresh blood into tired muscles. More blood means more oxygen and nutrients, which helps sore areas recover faster.

Separates Tight Layers

The lift gently pulls apart skin, fascia and muscle that have become stuck. This reduces stiffness and gives you a freer range of movement.

Calms the Body

Cupping relaxes the nervous system. Many people feel deeply calm during the session and sleep better the same night.

Types of Cupping

Cupping Methods We Use

Dr. Vineet chooses the method that suits your body and your problem.

Dry Cupping

Cups are placed on fixed points and left for a few minutes. This is the most common method and works well for pain and stiffness.

Moving Cupping

With a little oil on the skin, the cup glides over muscles. It feels like a deep massage and is great for the back and legs.

Flash Cupping

Cups are placed and removed quickly, again and again. It is light and gentle, so it suits first-timers and sensitive skin.

About Cupping Marks

Those Round Marks Are Normal

After cupping, you may see round pink, red or purple marks on the skin. Here is what you should know.

Not a Bruise

The marks come from blood drawn close to the skin. They usually do not hurt like a bruise from an injury.

Fade in a Few Days

Most marks fade on their own in 3 to 7 days. Lighter marks may go even sooner.

Lighter With Time

As the area becomes healthier over the sessions, the marks often get lighter.

Clean & Safe

Cups are cleaned and sanitised after every use, and the skin is checked before we begin.

No, it usually does not hurt. You will feel the skin being gently pulled up into the cup, which feels tight but bearable. Many people find it relaxing and even fall asleep.

How long do cupping marks stay?

Most marks fade in 3 to 7 days. Their colour depends on the tightness of the area, and they often get lighter as your sessions go on.

How many cupping sessions will I need?

For recent stiffness, 3 to 5 sessions are often enough. Older or long-term pain may need 8 to 10 sessions, usually once or twice a week. Dr. Vineet will suggest a plan after checking you.

Who should avoid cupping?

Please tell us before the session if you are pregnant, take blood-thinning medicines, have a bleeding disorder, very thin or broken skin, a skin infection, or a fever. In such cases we may change the method or suggest a different therapy.
